Hi!

My name is Melanie, but you can call me Mel!

I’m a freelance illustrator currently living in rural New Brunswick, Canada with my fiancé, son, and our dog Rusty :)

I have been making art since I could hold a crayon in my pudgy little hand! From traditional animation, to 3D modelling, to video game design, to portraits, to tabling at comic cons, to logos, to murals, to window and chalkboard art for local businesses, I have always created!

I LOVE TO BRING MAGIC, WHIMSY & A SENSE OF STORYTELLING TO MY ILLUSTRATIONS

A GLIMPSE INTO THE PAST…

I’ve been drawing ever since I can remember. (Little me is almost 2 in this picture)

I imagine that like most kids, it started with colouring books and scribbles.

As I got a little older, I started tracing those colouring books to make my own “drawings”. Eventually I began to create my own cartoon characters and fictional worlds.

I’ve always loved creating things. Crafting hand made cards for special occasions, making my own little books out of scrap printer paper, cutting out images from magazine to glue into my journal, decorating cookies, and so many more crafty things.

  • My grandmother and I would spend a lot of our time together on the living room floor. She would colour one page while I coloured the other! (Please excuse my face hehe)

  • My mom supporting my art career at a young age!

A few years after high school I received a formal education in 3D Game Animation. I spent the next few years in Montreal, and then back to my hometown to work for a small mobile game company. I’ve done all types of different commissioned artwork since then!

These days, I am enjoying creating personal projects like my snail mail club and developing my portfolio!
